The Huhtas
Hi, we’re Mary and Devlin, and we’re thrilled that you’ve found us.
Have you ever stood in front of the grocery store meat case trying to make sense of all the labels -
“natural”, “grass-fed”, “pasture-raised” and wondered what any of them really mean?
Or maybe you’ve picked up a package of beef, unsure of who actually raised that animal or what its quality of life was?
We’ve been there too.
That’s exactly why we started Huhta Homestead.
__
Over a decade ago, Dev and I were fresh out of college and, to be completely honest, totally clueless about where our food came from or how it was raised.
I don’t even remember how it started, but at some point I found myself realizing that I could take that question into my own hands - and just raise our food ourselves.
Soon, we rented a place with some land, started a too-big-for-us garden, and built a chicken coop for far too many chickens.
We caught the farm-to-table bug, even if that “farm” was just our backyard.
What began as a way to feed our own family healthy, trustworthy food grew into our own actual farm.
We now have the privilege to share nourishing food with you today.
At Huhta Homestead, we raise beef and poultry the way that food should be - with respect for the animal, the land, and the people who eat it.
We know that finding quality meat isn’t always straightforward. Labels can be confusing and big-brand marketing doesn’t always tell the whole story.
We’re here to cut through that noise.
When you buy from us, you know exactly who raised your food, how it was cared for, and where it came from. You can always ask us questions - and you’ll get a transparent answer straight from the farmers who did the work.
Our approach to farming is rooted in stewardship. We raise our animals on pasture, giving them the space and nutrition that nature intended. We work with the land - not against it - because healthy soil, clean water, and thriving wildlife are part of the same system that produces healthy food.
What started as our own effort to eat better and live more intentionally has grown into a way to share that same peace of mind with others. Every cut of beef or chicken you buy from Huhta Homestead supports responsible agriculture and a real family working the land.
Our goal is simple: to make it easy for you to fill your freezer with meat you can feel confident about.
Thank you for trusting us to feed your family - it means more than you know.
Ready to start your family’s journey with farm-fresh food?
