What does “grass-finished” mean to us?
The terms “grass-fed” and “grass-finished” can be pretty confusing - because ALL beef is grass-fed. It’s the finishing that really makes a difference.
Our beef truly grass-finished. When we purchased these animals as feeders (young cattle), they came from a grass-fed farm. The only grain they’ve ever received was a small amount to get them to stand on the livestock scale to calculate purchase weights.
(We did have to give them a small amount of grain to entice them home during one winter-time escape. THAT was a fun day.)
Once they arrived to Huhta Homestead, they spent the remainder of their lives on a grain-free diet, made up of pasture grass, hay, and occasional garden veggie treats.
