Why I Love Ground Beef (And You Should Too!)
If you've been reading my blog for any amount of time, you already know that I'm a big fan of keeping things simple in the kitchen - especially when life is wild and extra time feels non-existant.
That’s why, if I had to choose just one cut of beef to stock my freezer with year-round, it’d be ground beef.
Hands down.
Let me tell you why.
It’s the workhorse of my kitchen.
You know how some ingredients just work for you, no matter what you throw at them?
Ground beef is that ingredient. It’s reliable, undemanding, and always ready to get dinner on the table without a lot of fuss.
From tacos to meatballs, from quick pasta dishes to big hearty casseroles, ground beef carries its weight in nearly every recipe category.
It stretches meals when you need it to, fills bellies without complaint, and works well with whatever you’ve got in the pantry.
It’s incredibly versatile.
I can’t think of another cut that’s so easily transformed into so many meals.
Mexican night? Italian? A cozy pot pie? Ground beef can do all of it and more.
It doesn’t need to be fancy. You don’t need a special recipe. Sometimes it’s as simple as browning some beef with onions and garlic, tossing in a few spices, and serving it over rice or potatoes. Done. (Not that our house did that last week. Or the week before.)
And if you do want to go gourmet? Ground beef is more than happy to come along for the ride.
It’s Beginner-Friendly
Some cuts have a learning curve to them - how to sear just right, where to slice, how long to rest - but ground beef doesn’t ask that of you.
It’s one of the easiest ways to get comfortable cooking beef, even if you're brand new in the kitchen.
Brown it. Season it. Serve it. That’s the whole learning curve.
It’s perfect for busy parents, teens learning to cook, or just anyone trying to get dinner done without a YouTube tutorial and a prayer.
It’s Freezer-Friendly
We all know those weeks where the calendar is packed, the energy is low, and dinner is just not happening unless it’s already halfway made.
Ground beef is my insurance policy.
I keep packs in the freezer, pull one out in the morning (or, let’s be honest, mid-afternoon), and know that dinner is totally doable.
No last-minute drive-thru, no expensive takeout.
Pro tip: Brown up a few pounds at once and freeze it in meal-size portions. Major time saver.
I could go on. But really, what I want you to know is this:
Ground beef makes dinner easier.
And as we head into back-to-school season, I can’t think of anything more valuable than that.
In the coming weeks, I’ll be sharing a few of my go-to ground beef recipes - the ones I come back to again and again when life is busy and everyone’s hungry now.
And yep - I’ll also be doing a special ground beef sale here soon (more on that soon!).
Because when you find something that makes dinner simple, hearty, and stress-free?
You stock up.
Stay tuned.
